My story

Robert Beaver, a former finisher, was born on September 11th, 1888, in St. George, Two Mile Hill, Gloucestershire, England, the son of James and Mary Ann Beaver. He married Florence Rose Nolan on December 25th, 1915, and enlisted sometime after. He was assigned the rank of Private in the 2nd Battalion, part of the 22nd Brigade within the 7th Division.

On October 8th, 1917, the 22nd Brigade was positioned on the front line near Judge Cottage. The following day, the Battle of Poelcappelle was set to begin. On the 8th, the front line came under heavy enemy shelling.

Robert, aged 29, was killed in action that day and buried near the trenches. He left behind his wife, Florence Rose Nolan. Private Robert Beaver now rests at Tyne Cot Cemetery, Plot XXXVIII, Row E, Grave 21.
