My story

Driver Charles Hamond Hewett was part of the 84th Brigade Ammunition Column, Royal Field Artillery. The Brigade Ammunition Column left on 17 May 1916 to merge with others in the divisional artillery to form the 18th Divisional Ammunition Column. In the war diary of the 18th Divisional Ammunition Column is mentioned that on 15 October 1917 two L.D. are wounded. We presume that Driver Hamond was one of them and was wounded while taking ammunition up to the front. The 84the Brigade R.F.A. was situated south-east of Boesinge which would explain why he was taken to the Duhallow Advanced Dressing Station. Here he succumb of his wounds and was buried at the Duhallow A.D.S. Cemetery.
