Additional information

Private Ernest Tindall served in the Alexandra, Princes of Wales' Own Yorkshire Regiment 10th Battalion part of the 62nd Infantry Brigade of the 21st Division. On the 21st of October, his Battalion left Micmac Camp and moved to ā€˜Cā€™ Camp, and on the 22nd of October the Battalion moved again from ā€˜Cā€™ Camp to Zillebeke Lake. Later that day the battalion moved up to the front line to relieve the York and Lancaster Regiment 8th Battalion. The relief was completed without casualties and the companies of the battalion moved to their positions, A Company being in the right front line, D Company in the left front line, B Company serving as left support and C Company as right support. On the 23rd of October there were low flying enemy aeroplanes over the front line. These aeroplanes heavily shelled the front line and the support trenches causing numerous casualties, amongst whom Private Ernest Tindall. He is now remembered in the Tyne Cot Memorial.
