My story
"Killed in Action." At about 9 o' clock on the morning of November 6th 1917, whilst on duty at Battalion Headquarters as a sniper during an attack near Passchendaele, he was struck in the head by a piece of shrapnel, and rendered unconscious. His wound was dressed immediately and he was placed on a stretcher for evacuation, but died within a few yards of Headquarters, about thirty minutes after being hit, without regaining consciousness.
