Lance Corporal Stanley Blakeborough , a 20-year old former errand boy from Pateley Bridge, Yorkshire, UK, was part of the 11th Northumberland Fusiliers (68th Brigade, 23th Division). The 11th Northumberland Fusiliers participated in the Battle of Passchendaele 1917. On 12 October they took over the frontline from the 13th Durham Light Infantry near Reutel. The next day ‘A’ Company was heavily shelled and on 14 October ‘C’ Company shared the same fate. Lance Corporal Blakeborough was one of the casualties on 13 October. On 17 November 2021 Stanley Blakeborough, previously missing and remembered on the Tyne Cot Memorial, was reburied on Tyne Cot Cemetery.
