Albert Andrews was born in Penge, Greater London, England, where he continued to live until he joined. He was the son of Robert Andrews and Alice Andrews. He registered during the war in Bromley, Greater London, England, after which he joined the 1/1st Battalion London Regiment (City of London) Royal Fusiliers (17th Brigade, 24th Division).

Albert died on September 14, 1917 near Somme Farm. According to the sources, the 1st Battalion was in training that day and there were no big fights, but it is stated that there were severe bombing in the early morning.
