Mijn verhaal
Leonard Sandham Knott was de zoon van Elizabeth en William Frederick Knott. Hij werd geboren op 26 juni 1895 in Audenshaw, Lancashire. Leonard nam dienst in Manchester en maakte deel uit van het 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) (19th Brigade, 33rd Division).
Leonard sneuvelde op 28 november 1917 in de nasleep van de Slag bij Passendale. Op 27 en 28 november lostte Leonard’s eenheid de 1/5th Scottish Rifles af in het frontgebied ten zuiden van Passendale. Op 28 november doodde een hevig Duits spervuur 51 mannen van het 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers.
Leonard stierf op 22-jarige leeftijd. Zijn lichaam werd na de oorlog teruggevonden nabij Tiber, Passendale. Leonard werd herbegraven op Tyne Cot Cemetery, waar hij zijn laatste rustplaats vond.
