Mijn verhaal
The 7th Battalion The Buffs (East Kent Regiment) took over the front roughly between Poelcappelle Chruch and Gloster Farm. They took part in the attack on 12 October near Poelcapelle but the attack failed and they could only andvance a little. They suffered heavy German shelling and the field of operations was a moon landscape filled with mud. On the evening of the 13th the troops were relieved. William must have died during this attack or trying to consolidate the little ground they had gained.
