Mijn verhaal
"Killed in Action." On the morning of November 6th 1917, in company with another signaller, he was detailed to go forward and establish a visional station at Vienna Cottages. When they reached "C" Company trenches the enemy opened fire with 5.9 shells, and one landed in the trench, a piece of the shrapnel hitting private Chafe in the head, causing instantaneous death.
