Mijn verhaal
On the night of the 17th October, at 11 p.m., the 24th Australian Machine Gun Company was defending the line at Passchendaele Ridge (Broodseinde-Keerselaar) . Lance corporal Frederick Benedict Alsop was probably killed while holding and consolidating the line. He was killed instantaneously by a shell falling on the dugout which they had occupied. He was buried just beside the cemetry. A cross, with the rising sun on top, was placed on his grave.
