Mijn verhaal

The 15th Scottish Division relieved the 16th Division in the frontlines on Friday the 17th of August. They occupied the lines near Pommern castle, West of Hill 35 and the German stronghold of Iberian Farm.
The 15th Division attacked a first time on the 22nd of August. The Division advanced with two brigades. The 44th Brigade on the left side of the Divisional front and the 45th Brigade on the right side.
The 44th Brigade pushed forward with the 7th Camerons on the left and the 8th Seaforths on the right. Both Battalions suffered heavy losses from machinegun fire coming from Gallipoli and Iberian Farm. They made little headway.
The following morning the 44th Brigade attacked again. The 9th Black Watch and 8th and 10th Gordon Highlanders tried to take Gallipoli, while the 8th Seaforths advanced on Iberian Farm. Both attacks were unsuccessful.
The 8th Seaforth Highlanders were relieved by the 10th Scottish Rifles on the 24th of August. Two days later, on Sunday the 26th, they relieved the 10th Scottish Rifles in the front lines. The 10th Scottish Rifles had also failed to take the German stronghold at Iberia Farm.
On the 26th of August 1917 the 8th Seaforth Highlanders were back in the frontlines West of the German Stronghold at Iberian Farm. According to the De Ruvigny’s Roll of Honour Private – Signaller Robert Hughson fell victim to a shell, while he was serving in these frontlines.
