My story

Albert Edward Kinson was the son of Ellen and James Kinson. He was born around 1897 in Ozleworth, Gloucestershire. Before the war he worked as farm labourer. Albert was part of the 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment) (19th Brigade, 33rd Division).

Albert was killed in action on 28 November 1917 in the aftermath of the Battle of Passchendaele. On 27 and 28 November, Albert’s unit relieved the 1/5th Scottish Rifles in the front area south of Passchendaele. On 28 November, a heavy German barrage killed 51 men of the 20th Battalion Royal Fusiliers.

Albert died at the age of 20. His body was found after the war near Vienna Cottages, Passchendaele. Albert was reburied at Tyne Cot Cemetery, where he found his final resting place.
