Circumstances of Death:
"While going 'over the top' with his Company in front at Passchendaele, he was wounded in the feet and legs by bullets from an enemy machine gun. His wounds were dressed by brigade stretcher bearers and he was placed in a shell hole, as it was impossible at the time to take him to the Regimental Aid Post owing to the advance. He succumbed a few hours later to shock and exposure."
