Mon histoire
John Insley was a Rifleman of the Royal Irish Rifles 10th Battalion, 107th Brigade, 36th Division. After having rested and re-equipped in Red Rose Camp on the west of Vlamertinghe, they relieved the 11th Royal Irish Rifles on the 12th of August 1917 at the Front Line by Plum Farm, on the East of Wieltje. In this area, enemy artillery was very active. On 14 August 1917, the day they should be relieved and turn back to camp, John was killed. Probably by the heavy enemy shelling.
