Mon histoire
In the attack on 26 September 1917, the 2nd Royal Scots (8th Brigade, 3rd Division) were to carry a line extending from the Ypres-Roulers Railway to west of Hill 40. Due to heavy mist the troops had great difficulty in preserving direction. Hill 40 could not be taken. After a German counter attack the position in front could be ascertain. Edward must have been killed during this attack.
