Mon histoire
Private Sydney James Rulton, a farm labourer of Little Yeldham, Essex, served in the 21th Battalion Manchester Regiment (91th Brigade, 7th Division). He was married to Florence Gertrude Moore and had two daughters and two sons.
On the 24 October 1917 Sydney’s left Little Kemmel Camp and marched to La Clytte, Lock 8. From here they proceeded to the frontline at Tower Hamlets. The 29-year-old was killed in action on 24 October 1917. Sydney may have been killed while his Battalion took over the frontlinepositions at Tower Hamlets. Sydney James Rulton was reported missing and presumed death. His name can be found on the Memorial of the Missing at Tyne Cot Cemetery.
