Mon histoire
Frederick Hopgood was a private of the Hampshire Regiment 14th Battalion, 116th Brigade, 39th Division. On the evening of 22 September 1917, they relieved the 15th Hampshire Battalion by Shrewsbury Forest, on the west of Gheluvelt, where they had to consolidate the line. On the 23rd of September, the battalion was heavily shelled by enemy fire, which caused several casualties: 27 men were wounded and 6 were killed. Private Hopgood was one of them.
