Percival Leonard Barber served with the 9th Battalion Loyal North Lancashire Regiment (25th Division, 74th Brigade) during the Battle of Passchendaele. The 29-year-old Private, of Helston, Cornwall, was killed in action on the 4th of August 1917. On that day the 9th Battalion were carrying supplies from the Railway Dugouts near Zillebeke to the 25th Division’s positions in front of the hamlet of Westhoek on the Westhoek Ridge.
Percival Leonard was killed in action on 4 August 1917. He possibly fell while carrying supplies to the frontline. His remains were never identified and he is commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial. He left behind his young wife Annie and his 1-year-old son, Percival Leonard Barber.
