Mon histoire

Franklin was one of three brothers of Thornhill, Manitoba who went off to the Great War. He enlisted in march 1916 in Regina, Saskatchewan, where he studied to become a teacher. Franklin was taken on by the 4th Canadian Machine Gun Company, of the 2nd Canadian Division, in the spring of 1917.

On 10 November 1917, the Canadians carry out a last large-scale attack to the north of Passchendaele. Only the 1st Division goes into action, while the 2nd Division holds positions in the ruined village.

While preparing their positions at Passchendaele on 9 November 1917, Franklin was killed by relentless German shellfire. He was only 21 years old.
