Mon histoire

Private Albert Herbert AGNEW ( 3rd Bn. Otago Regiment, 4th New Zealand Brigade, New Zealand Division ) died of his wounds on the 17th of October 1917. That day the 3rd Battalion Otago Regiment was holding a line between the Cemetery and Peter Pan Farm. They encountered heavy German resistance such as artillery barrages and aeroplane attacks. Presumeably during one of these attacks Private Agnew got wounded and was admitted by the New Zealand Field Ambulance. Afterwards they took him to the 2nd ANZAC Corps Main Dressing Station ( A.C.M.D.S. ) near Brandhoek where he eventually died of his injuries (gunshot wound to the back). Private Agnew was buried at Brandhoek New Military Cemetery no.3, where he is still remembered.
