Mijn verhaal

Gunner Forde Hugh Douglas (4th Battery, 3th Brigade New Zealand Royal Field Artillery, Divisional Toorps, New Zealand Division) suffered a wound to his right hand and thigh due to German shelling on the 25th October 1917. The New Zealand artillery had moved their guns forward to the positions near Winnipeg-Kansas Cross Roads. Guns were also placed at Schuler Farm and Spree Farm. German artillery and bombers shelled these positions regularly. Gunner Forde was taken to the 3rd Australian Casualty Clearing Station (C.C.S.), where he died of his wounds the next day. He was buried at Nine Elms British Cemetery. On his Service Record it is first mentioned that he was buried at 27.L.22.d.6.3. which corresponds with Lijssenthoek Cemetery and Remy Siding. On the next line Nine Elms is mentioned, so we presume that the first coordinate was an error.
