Meine Geschichte
Charles was part of the 49th Battery, 13th Brigade Australian Field Artillery, B group 5th Australian Divisional Artillery, 5th Australian Division. His battery was probably stationed close to the small Westhoek Cemetery. An 5.9 enemy howitster was firing on J.8.c. Charles was probably killed due to this shelling. After the war he was exhumed to reburied in the Hooge Crater Cemetery.
