Meine Geschichte

In the attack on 4 October 1917 his battalion (28th Battalion, 7th Brigade, 2nd Division) was in reserve. The 7th Australian Brigade was to clear Zonnebeke village of snipers and continue their way up to set a new frontline. A lot of casualties fell on the forward areas due to heavy German shelling. As they moved forward Albert was hit by a shell near Zonnebeke Church and he was probably buried close to where he was killed
