Meine Geschichte

Captain Stanley Walter Graham was born on 20th January 1890 in Drogheda, Ireland. He worked as Math Teacher in Hull, UK. He grew up together with his parents Walter and Ada, his twin Percy and other brother Cyril and his sisters Ivy, Evelyn and Olive.
Stanley was a keen swimmer and cyclist.

At the age of 24 he enlisted the British Army where he started as Lieutenant in the 11th Battalion of the Royal Warwickshire Regiment, part of the 112th Infantry Brigade, 37th Division.
During the war he’s got wounded twice: on the right shoulder on 17/08/1916 and once on the head on 25/04/1917.

In October 1917 the Regiment moved to the Ypres Region to take part in the Battle of Passchendaele.
November 1917 the Regiment stayed south of Ypres near the Mount Noir and on 17th November they moved up to the line in Moated Grange near Zwarte Leen, Zillebeke.
Working parties were formed daily for the whole Battalion. On the night of the 24th November 1917 the camp was bombed, killing 2 Lieutenants and Captain Chambers.

The family Chambers story has it that Stanley was bombed by a German plane so Percy joined the Royal Air Corps, and became an ace gunner, to avenge his brothers death.
Captain Stanley Walter Graham, 27 of age, was killed immediately and is buried and commemorated Voormezeele Enclosure n°3 Cemetery, plot IV, row A, Grave 5.
